PMP preparation and DIY dentistry
“BLOG” – what a funny name, we’re told it’s short for “web log” – oh really? So “Mowens” is short for “Jim Owens” then?
Surely it should be WLOG or WEBG or something? I suppose you couldn’t use those because you couldn’t pronounce them - like the unpronounceable name of God “YHWH”, it started of as a nice name then someone took the vowels out because they thought it would was profane to say it. No-one asked God of course (as far as I am aware, and as they could no longer pronounce His name, it would be a bit difficult).
OK, if we take out the vowels we get “Jm wns’ BLG” (and I’ll stone anyone that tries to pronounce it).
At least BLOG rolls of the tongue (in fact it even sounds like something that has – “I’ve got a nasty cold today, where’s my handkerchief?” “Thanks. BLOG! BLOG! Ah that’s better!”)
And you have to be so politically correct these days, but just like a project there’s always the risk of unknown-unknowns – what if "Blog" were a swearword in another language? Hey that could explain why I’ve never seen anyone from Robovia in the forum – they log into PMHub, and the first thing they see is, “BLOG” and they think, “How rude, I’m never coming back here!” (of course they would think it in Robvovian).
Or even worse - what? There’s something worse tan offending the whole nation of Robovia? - Yes! What if space aliens have been monitoring our communications for years and “BLOG” in their language means, “A slow and painful death to the aliens who have been monitoring our communications for years”? It could be the end of civilisation as we know it!
So - Robovians, we love you, please come back to PromotePM – and if there are any aliens reading this, “UNBLOG! UNBLOG”
Wow, the power of this medium, in my very first Blog I have made peace with Robovia and saved the Earth – cool!
My question for today is about PMP preparation courses.
“Should you attend a PMP preparation course before attempting the PMP exam?”
My thoughts are: obviously you don’t have to attend a preparation course before you do the exam – just like you don’t have to study dentistry before pulling your own teeth! (Please note if you want to pull out someone else’s teeth that’s a whole different ballgame – then you do need to be a dentist). So you can pull out your own teeth without going to a dentistry preparation course (but there will be heaps of pain involved, and you may not be successful), and you can study for your PMP without going on a PMP preparation course (but there will be heaps of pain involved, and you may not be successful).
Why suffer? Do the course, get your PMP.
