Three Wishes

If I could have three wishes, I know what they would be,

To walk beside you hand-in-hand where no-one else could see.

A lonely beach, a forest stroll, a walk across a park,

I’d like to hold your precious hand till daylight turns to dark.

My next would be to kiss you and hold you in my arms,

I’d lose all sense of time my love, surrendered to your charms.

I would then be so happy, with the woman I adore,

So the last wish may be never used, how could I wish for more?

One Thousand Shadows

My wonderful darling, with every beat of my trembling heart I am truly thankful to you,

And every sweet breath that I take, I am deeply grateful for you.

You have given me new life, where before there was desolate nothingness

And you have brought the light of love to illuminate my long night of empty darkness.

I see you before me in my sleep and in my wakefulness, and you are with me wherever I go and whatever I do.

When I laugh, you laugh with me, and when I cry you kiss away my tears.

Your beauty shakes me to my core, yet eludes all attempts to describe it,

For you are like a mysterious, shimmering, shifting mist of a thousand shadows, and there are a thousand depths within you.

A brilliant light of a thousand colours shines from your beautiful, moist eyes,

And the promise of a thousand kisses dances in a thousand wonderful smiles on the perfection of your entrancing lips.

You are as soft and warm and tender as a newborn lamb,

A butterfly dancing on the edge of my heart,

The brilliance of my dreams, and the one designed to fill the shape of my empty, lonely arms.

You dazzle me, you overwhelm me, you fill me up, and you complete me.

I put my arms around you, but lightly,

I kiss your wonderful lips, but lightly.

I will not hold you tightly; I will not steal your freedom from you

I truly love you, so I let the mist of a thousand shadows flow freely though my hands.

For to capture your love is to lose it, but to let it go is to truly find it.

The First Time

Was it in the shifting sands that I first saw your face?

Were you drawn in the clouds on a Summer’s eve?

In a wonderful dream, or the cream on my coffee?

Where did I first see your beautiful face?

Was it in a playful breeze that I first heard your voice?

Or the waves that stoke the wet expanse of the shore?

Were you stirring in autumn leaves, or in the gentle rain?

When did I first hear your lovely voice?

Was it in this lifetime that I first fell in love with you?

Or did we live before in a castle; a King and his Queen?

Did we meet in the blue sky, or the depths of cool, green sea?

When did I first fall in love with you?

I have seen you; I have heard you and I’ve loved you all my life.

You have always been beside me, and you I’ve always known.

And in the future and the past, in the depths and in the heights.

I will first fall in love with you for all of my life.

I Touched You Today

I touched your lips with my eyes today, did you feel it? I know that you did, because right away you looked up and touched my eyes with yours, and at once our hearts beat in time, for just a few precious moments. I know that they did, I could sense it in you. And as our eyes held each other and our hearts moved in and out as one; in that brief moment of our lives, we became one and we shared something amazing. Something sacred passed between us, I don’t know what it was or why it was, or how it was, but I know that some wonderful part of me entered you and some wonderful part of you entered me, because I touched you with my eyes today.

I touched your spirit with my eyes today, did you feel it? It was a special moment of love and joy and peace, when our immortal spirits intertwined. The deepest parts of our hidden selves held hands and danced and sang until dawn. I played games with the wind and sun and the rain of you. You cried deep tears on my shoulder and laughed in my arms, and walked beside me by a shady brook and lay down naked beside me, all at the same time, because I touched you with my eyes today.

I touched your heart with my eyes today, did you feel it? We were changed today, you and I. Perhaps we will part and perhaps we will remain together. Perhaps I will have a chance to tell you of my feelings one day, or perhaps my secrets will accompany me, silently to heaven. All I know for sure is that from this day forward we will never be apart. And at the time we draw our last breath, we will smile because we our not alone, because I touched you with my eyes today and you felt it.

My Lover’s smile

How may I describe my lover’s smile to those that know her not?

How shall I impart the fullness of the glory of thy perfect mouth?

Shall I speak of muscle and tendon and things so worldly profane?

Surely not, for they are mere actors on a stage; thy sweet smile is the play.

As the telling of a tree cannot the grandeur of a mighty forest convey,

Neither can a treatise on timbers and stones, a holy temple describe.

When I so happily survey the wonder of thy bewitching, winning smile,

It holds me firmly captive, yet so willing in its tender, mighty grasp.

Of eyes it is said they are windows to the soul – Ah, thine eyes also so fair!

Yet the beauty of thy smile is a window opened on thy pure heart

Did I say, “Thy smile”, forgive me, for thy hast one hundred; nay one thousand!

Each one vies against the others for the crown of greatest beauty.

Each smile a facet of thy grace, as a sparkling, brilliant jewel from afar,

And shineth out from the light within thee, from whence springeth thy love.

Fairest maid; kings would their kingdoms trade for a smile lesser than thine,

For thy smile tender and gentle, is a spark that setteth fire to the heart of man.

And now the flame thy lit within me, craves indulgence of thee and thy sweet kiss.

To kiss thy mouth so glorious; to rise up as eagles; to enter the kingdom of Heaven.

Oh wretched me, where do I begin, what words can I dare choose from my pallet?

The most fiery, sharpened sword from my arsenal is blunted by thy simplest look,

No vowel, no verb, no adjective, no holy word can approach thy smile.

The greatest language of man yet devised is as a scratching sound, to thee compared.

The wonder of the beauty of each smile, that shines so easily from my lover’s lips.

The finest work of nature or made by craftsman’s hand, is not thine equal, my love.

No dancing, yellow ray of sun, or wondrously coloured, richly scented flower is as fair.

For thou are without compare in all creation, a mighty work of the tender hand of God.

I stand before thee and wonder at the fairness of thy mouth, designed by love itself.

My eyes do fill with warm and salted tears, from thy smile so fair, and radiant.

But when I stand at last before the throne of our Creator I must ask of Him

When such perfection he had wrought in thee, why did he stop at one?

At last there is something right in my life,

A special something, a special someone, that cannot be denied.

And now you fill all those empty spaces, those empty thoughts, those empty nights.

And In this whole chaotic mess that we call life,

At last you make meaning out of the confusion and purpose out of the futility,

For you are my endless love.

With every step I take it seems that you are beside me.

When I lie in bed you are above me.

When I reach out my heart you thrill me.

When you reach out your heart you fill me.

Where once I was lost you direct me.

For you are my endless love.

Never did I think that love would find me so late in life,

Nor that someone as wonderful as you would take the time.

Never could I imagine that my fantasies and dreams could all come true.

Now I have someone who surpasses my greatest hopes and dreams,

Now you redefine my hopes and dreams in terms of our love for each other,

For you are my endless love.

If love is endless can it have a beginning?

If love is endless, surely it must have always been?

In something as pure and natural as our love for each other,

It must have always existed, always lived and we have always loved.

I know we have loved before we were born, and we will never, ever stop,

For you are my endless love.
